Il Leone Bianco torna a ruggire, Mike Tramp ha rimesso in piedi i White Lion. Ecco cosa ci ha raccontato in proposito…

Hello Mike, it's a few time that Tramp's White Lion "Rockin' In The USA" has been issued and it has been recorded during the us tour of last february and march. Why did you choose to do a live album?
Well at this time we're not thinking about doing a new album with new songs, and White Lion never recorded a live album, so I thought this was a great way to introduce the new band.

Are you satisfied from the american audience reply to this album?
It was just a classic club tour across the USA and we had a lot of fun, so yes we're very happy, we didn't expect a lot but got a lot out of it.

We see that the line-up is formed by Jamie Law, Claus Longwood, Troy P.Farrel and Henning Wanner. Why the old White Lion's member are not involved?
White Lion broke up in 1991 and we don't want to play together. Even if I had the chance to reform the old band, I wouldn't. This band is much more fun to be part of.

The Tramp's White Lion are 2 danish, one american, one german and one australian man. How did you manage to put together this whole world band?
Over the past 6 years I have met these guys and different times, and I always knew that I were to put TWL together these guys would be the ones. I like them and I trust them.

In the last years you've been touring Australia, USA and Europe; which are the places where you enjoy most and which differences you have discovered in the european, american and australian audiences?
My audience are the same around the world. All nice people who have followed me from White Lion to Freak of nature and to Mike Tramp solo. So anywhere there's a Mike Tramp audience, I love to play there.

James Lomenzo has been part of the Zakk Wilde team, while Greg is playing with the Antiproduct. What is in the meanwhile doing now Vito Bratta?
Rumors say that he has some health's problems...
Sorry to say so, but my days are over talking about Vito Bratta. I really don't care about it anymore. I tried my best, but only got shit back.

You've started to work at your new solo album in Copenhagen, what we can wait from your new composition?
The thing about having TWL coming alive. Is that now Mike Tramp solo will have nothing to do with White Lion songs in the live set, and also I feel much more free to just explore the music with thinking about anything
but being true to each song.

I've seen on your website that a book telling your life is coming with cooperation of Lars Daneskov, when we will be able to read it? You will issue only the danish version?
My friend wrote this book with me and it really was written for the Danes who grew up with me since 1974. An English version would have to be a bit different.

Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Queen and Thin Lizzy are your most influences. Which artist or group do you like in the new scene? Is there anyone particularly worth of your attention in Danemark?
I grew whit a band called Gasolin, they were the greatest Danish rock band of all times. There singer Kim Larsen have continued since the band broke up in 1979. He is my all time favorite artist.

What is your opinion about bands such Push, Switchblade, Star Rats and D.A.D.?
I know D:A:D, and Martie Peters from Push is a very good friend of mine.

Some years ago you told that you'd like to play once with Tom Kiefer, did you achieve your aim?
Never happened.

In these days I'm reading "Fever Picth" di Nick Hornby and I know that you are an Arsenal Fan as the writer. Do you know also the italian soccer?
If you like soccer then you all soccer teams in the world, so of course I know Italian soccer.

I'm fan of team Inter, but I loved Michael Laudrup... Is there any new soccer danish player that you like? What do you think about Tomasson, Jorgensen or Gravesen?
Tomasson used to be better, but I always support my country. Now they have to start from scratch and build a new team. Yes of course Laudrup is the greatest of all Danes.

Which is for you the most rocknroll attitude endowed soccer player?... And if you were a soccer player, which one would you be?
Johan Cruyff, he was my hero.

How much time have we to wait to see ya playing in Italy? If you come I promise you to organize a soccer game, 5 of Tramp's White Lion Team Vs 5 of SLAM! team!
Don't know how many soccer players we have in the band.

How about it? How can we do to book a Mike Tramp's show for our annual Slam! Party?
Let me know what you want.

Cool! Your left arm is full of tattoos, what they represent and which is the meaning of tattoos for you?
Commitment for life, just like my commitment to rock'n'roll.

How is your life changed after becoming a daddy and which was your suggestion if your son would be a rockstar?
Life hasn't changed for me, but the times have changed.
My son will not end up in music, he doesn't seem to have nay big interest.
But wheat ever he wants to do, I will support as long as he commits him self to it.

During an old interview on a rock italian magazine you told that at the beginning of your carreer some girls thought you were Jon Bon Jovi... were they boozed? Is something similar happened in all these years?
Don't remember that.

Is there any reason why your logo is similar to the Triumph one?
We copied the Triumph logo, an d thought it worked well.

Why on the lion's face on the new cd, there is a confederate flag?
Why not. I feel TWL is more of a rebellion to the old White Lion, we won't played it safe, but do what we feel and break the rules if we have to.
That's what the confederate flag represents

Which recalls can you tell us about touring with Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZTop?
It is always and honor to play and tour with legends. I had many special moments with both bands, and a lot of private times. It was great and they treated me very good. I love both bands.
All the best, Mike.
