Hi Davy, are you satisfied with the last European tour?
Yeah it was great especially after not being over there the first time Vain played overseas.

When I went to San Francisco I remember that Little Italy was one of the most beautiful parts of the city… Is Italy how you expected it to be?
I think you have to really go to Italy to really see how beautiful and diverse the country is. Of course they have the most beautiful women in the world and Vain loves that!

Which is the Italian tour date you enjoyed the most? Why?
It’s hard to pick one show cause they were all an adventure going from one city to the next. They all had their own different elements.

What happened in Rome? How come you didn’t play?
They stage was too small for us to put on a show that our fans would expect. We tried anyway at sound check to make it work but the sound monitor system wasn’t powerful enough for a band with our volume.

Talking about your past, what about Tommy Rickard and Danny Fury? Is it true that Tommy plays in a Jackson 5 cover band?
With regards to Tommy, I know he’s doing a lot of session work but I’m not sure about the cover band gig. As for Danny Fury he moved back to Europe and I haven’t heard from him in years.

What are the positive and negative aspects of making a solo album instead of working as a team with Vain?
The album entitled Davy Vain had a lot of the Vain members playing on it. Making it was pretty much the same as making a Vain record except I played a lot more guitar on it. I really consider it a VAIN record. The main reason we called it “Davy Vain” was because when we played out after making it we wanted to play almost all the songs off of that album and not have to play old catalog songs. And now its kinda funny cause everyone considers it a solo album.

Not so long ago It’s been republished the masterpiece called “No respect”, but when will we have the chance to buy an official copy of “All Those Strangers”?
We’re working on it right now and it will be released soon.

Once and for all, can you tell us why that album wasn’t released?
Actually even before NO Respect was released Island was sold to Polygram so there was a lot of changes going on. By the time we were working on our second record “All Those Strangers”, we were actually working with our second president. While we were mixing the album the label went through another change and the president left and it was decided that the label would no longer put out any rock albums.

I have a videotape at home, where you play with Steven Adler on the drums. He’s just been to Italy and I’ve seen him in good shape …How’s been playin’ with him?
When he was ON, it was amazing. But there were a few ups and down during that period of time in his life but I love Steve as a person he’s an incredible drummer and we made some great music together which is what its all about anyway.

What’s your best and worst memory linked to Adler?
Best Memory- Some the recording sessions that we did and seeing his big smile, he was always doing some crazy thing to crack everybody up. As far as the worst memory goes, it would have to be him screwing up to where we didn’t get to do the record. I think it would’ve been really amazing.

You recorded songs like “Breakdown”, “Family”, “Get up” with him... Is it true that the Roadcrew project didn’t go on for his drug problems?
Lets just say he had to work some stuff out and that’s what hindered the project.

You gave your voice also for the Aerosmith tribute published by Perris (“Aerosmithsonian”) singing “S.O.S. (Too Bad)”, what do you think about all these tribute CDs and what bands do u wish would take part to a hypothetical Vain’s tribute?
The reason we did the tribute album was because we used to play S.O.S. at the clubs otherwise I don’t really like tribute albums.
As for Vain tributes… Whoever sells the most records in the world right now so we can collect the royalty money and make records and tour Europe for the rest of our lives.

What do you think about the “Beat the bullet’s” version by Killinbird?
I thought it was really good.

Of all your most important productions, I remember “The ultra-violence” and “Frolic through the park” by the Thrashers Death Angels. Have you produced other bands over these years? Is there any other band from the Bay area you’d like to have in your studio?
Yes but there’s too many to mention. I think my best production is on the new Vain album “On The Line”.
Yes, I’d like to have Metallica in the studio.

American Heartbreak, Romeo’s Dead, etc. are the first 2 names that come to my mind thinkin’ of the San Francisco scene, but how is actually the rock movement around there? Is there anything interesting you can suggest to SLAM! fans?
I’m not really sure about bands out here. I hang out more in Los Angeles. Most of the time, being around music so much, I usually like to hang out at places like the Rainbow.

In 1991 Danny West became member of Shine and in 1995 he released “Taste The Sound”. Can you tell me something more about it and where we can find this CD??
I don’t really know much about where you can find the CD as it was released in Japan but I can set you up with an interview with Danny anytime.

Danny has played also in The Pimps of Venus and in Dukes of Hazzard, what about them?
Pimps of Venus was a cool band and Dukes of Hazzard was a fun drunk bar band.

Plans for the next months?
Writing some new songs and doing an interview for a cool Italian.

Thanks!! ...Ok Davy, if you have somethin’ to add, the last lines are all for you...
I just want to let everyone know that we had a great time in Italy and that we are accepting pictures via our website of Italian women! Say hi at Davy@davyvain.com and visit the site at DavyVain.com
